PAOLO GIOVANNI NUTINI

Paolo Giovanni Nutini (born 9 January 1987) is a Scottish singer/songwriter from Paisley. His father is of Italian descent, from Barga, Tuscany and his mother is Scottish, although his father's family have been in Scotland for four generations.[1]

Nutini, who has no formal musical training, was expecting to follow his father into the family fish and chip shop business. He was first encouraged to sing by his music-loving grandfather Jackie and a teacher at his school who recognised his talent. He left school to work as a roadie and to sell t-shirts for Speedway and spent three years learning the music business, performing live, alone and with a band, and working as a studio hand at Glasgow's Park Lane Studio.

His big chance came when he attended a concert for David Sneddon's return to his home town of Paisley at the beginning of 2003. Sneddon was delayed, and as the winner of an impromptu pop quiz, Nutini was given the chance to perform a couple of songs on stage during the wait. The favourable reaction of the crowd impressed another member of the audience, who offered to become his manager.

nutini also has a brother name alex that is 16 and lives in nsw, australia. Renowned Daily Record journalist, John Dingwall, saw him performing at the Queen Margaret Union, and invited him to appear live on BBC Radio Scotland. Only 17, he moved to London, and performed regularly at The Bedford pub in Balham while still legally too young to drink alcohol himself. Other radio and live appearances followed, including two live acoustic spots on Radio London, The Hard Rock Cafe, and support slots for Amy Winehouse and KT Tunstall.

Throughout 2006 he played a number of sell-out concerts in the UK, and performed at a wide variety of venues worldwide, including King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, a TV appearance on Later with Jools Holland, Carnegie Hall in New York, The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Wireless Festival, Oxegen and T in the Park. He supported the Rolling Stones in Vienna and was invited to appear with them again at the Don Valley Stadium in August 2006. He was also booked to appear at the V Festival and The Austin City Limits Music Festival, Texas later in 2006, with a European tour in the Autumn. In May 2006, he also played at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee.

On Hogmanay 2006, Paolo appeared on BBC Scotland's Hogmanay Live celebrations, after the official celebrations in Princes St. Gardens were cancelled at short notice due to abysmal weather. He performed several songs in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle for the TV audience with little or no rehearsal.

On Wednesday, April 11, 2007, Paolo performed in a concert that was streamed live via MSN Music.

Paolo is a big Celtic FC supporter and was criticised by fans for coming on stage drunk after celebrating Celtic's title win in April 2007. This has been vigorously denied by Paolo himself and his management, who said that Paolo was just mumbling as he sang, and that the set was subject to several technical problems that made him difficult to hear. [2]

Paolo performed at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2007 on the famous Pyramid Stage on the second day of the event. Nutini also performed at the UK leg of Live Earth at Wembley Stadium on July 7, 2007 with his set including a cover of Louis Armstrong's It's A Wonderful World. He performed the following day at T in the Park, in Scotland. [3]

Scottish independent TV company, Volt MediaFix are currently making a one off special documentary on Paolo's recent US tour. The program, for BBC, was scheduled for broadcast on BBC2, 10pm, Thursday 7th June throughout Scotland and Sky channel 990 throughout the rest of the UK.

His song 'Million Faces' from the album These Streets was featured at the end of the Grey's Anatomy episode 'Testing 1-2-3' from season 3

Paolo Nutini was signed to Atlantic Records in May 2005, shortly after his 18th birthday. He released his first album "These Streets" as a free download in May 2006, this was then followed by his first single "Last Request" which was released on 4 July 2006 and charted at #5 in the official UK charts. In the video for "Last Request", Nutini plays the part of a robber - though this is not revealed until the end. Nutini's third single, "Jenny Don't Be Hasty", was released on 25 September 2006 and got to #20 on the UK Singles Chart. "Rewind" was Nutini's fourth single. It was released on 4 December 2006, and reached #27 in the UK.

His debut album These Streets, produced by Ken Nelson (Coldplay/Gomez), was released on 17 July 2006 and immediately entered the UK album charts at #3. Many of the songs on the album, including "Last Request" and "Rewind", were inspired by a turbulent relationship with his current girlfriend,Teri Brogan, and "Jenny Don't Be Hasty" is a true story about encounters with an older woman.

SHAYNE THOMAS WARD

Shayne Thomas Ward (born 16 October 1984 in Clayton, Manchester) is an English pop singer who rose to prominence in the UK and Ireland after becoming the winner of the 2005 series of the talent show The X Factor.

Ward is in a relationship with long-term girlfriend, Faye. He has six siblings, including a twin sister named Emma. Prior to his participation in The X Factor, Ward was in a band called Destiny with two women named Tracy Murphy and Tracey Lyle. They performed at pubs, clubs and weddings. Ward also reached the final thirty of Popstars: The Rivals.

During The X Factor competition, Shayne Ward was mentored by manager Louis Walsh. The Bookies' favourite to win the show, he defeated duo Journey South and singer Andy Abraham in the final, screened by ITV1, by a margin of 1.2% of the vote, out of a reputed 10.8 million phone votes cast by viewers (since the programme was watched by an audience averaging 9.2 million people, it is likely that some viewers cast multiple votes for all finalists).

His first single, "That's My Goal", was released in the UK on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 and became the Christmas number one in 2005. It sold 313,000 copies on its first day of sales,[ though technically it was not in one day because sales of downloads for this song were around 70.000 which had been on sale for four days before the physical release] making it the fourth fastest selling single of all time (behind Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" and Will Young's "Anything Is Possible/Evergreen", which sold 685,000 and 403,000 copies in their first days of sale respectively, and 335,000 for Gareth Gates' "Unchained Melody").

His second single "No Promises" (a cover of a Bryan Rice song) was released on 10 April 2006, and it reached number two in the UK Singles Chart. His album was released on Monday April 17, and it sold over 95,000 copies on the first two days of release. By the end of the week, the album sold 201,266 copies at number 1. The album has sold 450,000 copies in total in the UK.

Ward's third single "Stand by Me" failed to set the charts alight like the previous two, entering the UK top 20 at #14. It fared slightly better in the Irish charts, reaching #9. Although this single reached number 9 in Ireland, many people inside and outside of music have now labelled him the new Steve Brookstein due to the decrease in popularity.

Sony BMG released Ward's debut album on 14 July 2006 in Taiwan and other [Asia] countries. He is currently enjoying major success there and in South Africa and he has had some success across Scandinavia.

Ward is a vocal spokesman for gay rights, and in 2007 he lent his support to the popular newspaper Gay News, which publicly acknowledged his financial and editorial support by listing him as one of its special friends.

In August 2006, it was reported that Ward had developed vocal cord nodules the same condition that stopped the singing career of Julie Andrews and was to be flown out to Los Angeles in early September to a specialist surgeon. His manager, Louis Walsh, released a statement that he was confident Ward would be fine and would be back at work by the end of the month. In November 2006, he released his autobiography entitled 'My Story'. He travelled to a few places around the country and did book signings which thousands of people attended.

Ward is currently working on a new album to be released in October/November 2007. Prior to the release of the new album, Ward went on tour across the UK and Ireland in early 2007, taking in eighteen concerts in twenty-eight days from late January to mid February. The tour commenced in Dublin on 21 January and ended in Birmingham on 17 February 2007.

It was confirmed that Ward's new single would be "If That's OK with You", with a release date of 20th August 2007, but given the lack of airplay from radio and the lukewarm response on the music channels, it was announced that it would be delayed and become a double A side single with 'No U Hang Up It has a release date of 24th September 2007, with the new album to follow in November.
